Book club of R1 - The Page Turners had its first event of this term on Friday, August 6th, 2021 on Zoom platform at 7:00 pm. It was a marvelous success. The discussion on Zikora, by author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie brought forth interesting points of view from everyone. It was fascinating to see how different people perceived the book differently. Aman Fazil reviewed After Dark by Haruki Murakami. Aman showed us how to immerse onseself in the world of Murakami’s writings. Sapiens- A Brief History of Humankind authored by Yuval Noah Harari-is a thrilling account of humankind’s extraordinary history – from the Stone Age to the Silicon Age – and our journey from insignificant apes to rulers of the world. The literary heavyweights of Region 1, Dr Anvar Hussain, Dr Ayyappan G Pillai, Dr Shaji Arakkal and Dr Biju James reviewed the first part of this hefty book- The Cognitive Revolution. The introspective discussion was intriguing and captivating. This session has made this book more approachable to the non-Harari fans. It was a delight to have the presence and participation of members from other regions and central office bearers.
