Presidential visit region 5

            Reunions help us reconnect. Such was the President’s visit to region 5 which was conducted on October 15, 2021  in Concorde Hotel, Fujairah. It was attended by Central and other regional leaders and region 5 members and their families.  We were fortunate enough to have been able to club together president’s visit with region 5 family get together, which unfortunately had to be postponed multiple times due to covid restrictions .

            The day’s program started off with an informal meeting with the central leaders in which various concerns were raised and discussed. MC for the day, Dr Sandy, kept the ceremony agenda flowing as smoothly as possible. Our Guests were welcomed by the Region chair Dr Sajith Bhaskar, followed by the Regional activity report presentation by the regional convenor Dr Leena. The central leaders addressed the gathering and expressed their joy and happiness in meeting region 5 members and their families. Dr George Jacob, Past President distributed last year’s Presidents awards to Dr Moni, Dr Leena, Dr Sajith, Dr Salim and Dr Safarulla. Dr George Joseph, honorable president presented memento to Dr Sagar, Dr Sheena and Varsha for their prize-winning entry for the short film festival. Dr Safarullah distributed gifts to our young enthusiastic budding talents Aryan Krishnan, Ryan Cherian, Ishaan Salim and Varsha Sagar. New members were also introduced in the gathering. Dr Abdul Nazer, the regional treasurer, presented the vote of thanks to the audience. Region 5 also entertained the crowd with some feet tapping songs, music and dances by Dr Sagar, Dr Salim, Varsha, Dr Smitha, Ryan Cherian, Dr Priyanka and Aryan Krishnan. The final performance was a popular Malayalam song, which was joined by all present in chorus, a reflection of “happiness in togetherness”.
