Since the inception of AKMG Emirates, the Abu Dhabi chapter, now known as region-1 of AKMG Emirates has been a vibrant and colorful segment within the parent organization.
It all began with an informal meeting in 2003 at Dubai between Dr.Azad Moopen, Dr.V.S.Ajaikumar and Dr.Y.A,Nazer . Soon after this Dr.V. S Ajaikumar, organized a meeting of doctors of Kerala origin, in Abu Dhabi at Intercontinental Hotel along with Dr. Sivan Pillai Azhagappan. AKMG Abu Dhabi came into being with Dr.V.S.Ajaikumar as President of the chapter, Dr.Sivan Pillai Azhagappan as secretary and Dr.Shivadas Menon as the treasurer of the chapter.
There has been no looking back since then. The region now has a member strength of 250. Over the years the region has hosted 2 biennial conventions of AKMG Emirates, in 2006 and 2018. Both these were outstanding events of AKMG Emirates. It has also hosted the AKMG Emirates Onam celebration Keralotsavam in 2016.
Region -1 has excelled in all avenues of AKMG Emirates. It has been steadfast in the principles of Friendship and Family interactions within the fraternity. Region one has been at the forefront in CME, Sports, Cultural, Music and literary avenues. Its commitment to social responsibilities has been demonstrated time and again with its members whole hearted participation in aid generation and delivery in times of need. Region-1 has had its share of tragedies too, when two of our members passed away during the course. True to our commitment to the fraternity, in both the instances our members joined together and stood up in strong support of the families of our departed members at their time of need.
Region one has strived to create platforms to cater to the varying interests of its member families. AKMG Emirates, Central events have always seen an overwhelming participation from region one and its presence at these events were always eagerly anticipated, as Region one presence guaranteed a lot of joy, fun and laughter at the gatherings.
